Nashville is packed with beautiful green spaces, but between ever-present construction (surprise! Looking for the best playgrounds in Nashville’s premiere neighborhood, Hip Donelson? Look no further! As Donelson locals, we spend a lot of time in this area and have got you covered!!
Restrooms: Yes (Modern, clean public restrooms right by the playground).
Parking: Large dedicated paved lot.
Key Details: High on a hill with killer views. The drive up might feel like you’re heading off into another county, but just keep going until you reach the parking lot — it’s totally worth it. Check out the Ravenwood Park Master Plan for more details! I may be biased because I like in Donelson but Ravenwood Park is one of the best parks and playgrounds in Nashville.
⭐ Two Rivers Park
Location: 3150 McGavock Pike, Nashville, TN 37214
Playground: Yes (Two separate spots! The newer “blue” playground has a smooth rubber base; the older “yellow” playground has a mulch base and nice shade… want to guess which one our kid prefers?).
Facilities & Amenities: Wave Country wave pool (this does have a low admission fee), 18-hole disc golf course, public golf course, a skate park that is always busy, a two-mile paved walking loop, plus access to Stones River Greenway. Fantastic location for Donelsonians! Also, technically, the historic Two Rivers Mansion, a preserved 19th century Italianate historic home, sits on the grounds of the park.
Nature/Community Center: No
Restrooms: Yes (Public restrooms near the playground and greenway trailhead).
Parking: Plenty of paved parking near both play areas and the greenway lot.
Key Details: Perfect spot for flying kites or practicing walking on the soft rubber ground. Good hills to roll down and a dog park for you dog people :-p Plus, you can walk right over the big pedestrian bridge spanning the Cumberland! While the playgrounds aren’t anything to write home about, the park does offer a lot. Visit the Two Rivers Park site for more details.

Key Details: The main gathering hub for East Nashville events and neighborhood festivals throughout the year.
Lockeland Springs Park
Location: 1810 Woodland St, Nashville, TN 37206
Playground: Yes (Charming neighborhood play structure tucked back into the trees).
Facilities & Amenities: Natural spring basin, walking paths, open grass area, shaded seating.
Nature/Community Center: None on site.
Restrooms:No.
Parking: Street parking along Woodland St and 19th Ave.
Key Details: A tiny, peaceful neighborhood pocket park centered around a historic natural spring. Perfect for a low-key playground stop after grabbing food in Five Points! Learn more about the conservation efforts for this park.
⭐ Shelby Park & Shelby Bottoms Nature Center
Location: 1900 Davidson St, Nashville, TN 37206
Playground: Yes (An AMAZING inclusive natural play area by the nature center + traditional playground over by the duck pond).
Facilities & Amenities: Shelby Bottoms Nature Center, miles of paved/unpaved greenway, boat ramp, golf course, baseball fields, dog park, duck pond.
Nature/Community Center:Shelby Bottoms Nature Center (free indoor exhibits, natural play backyard, and loaner bikes! They often lead free guided trail walks and nature observational activities).
Restrooms: Yes (At the Nature Center, community center, and golf course).
Parking: Tons of paved parking lots across the whole park footprint.
Key Details: You could totally spend an entire day here and not see everything — I mean, the entire property is over 900 acres!!! It’s such a good mix of structured park space and wild wetlands. If we lived on this side of town, we’d be over here all the time. Get more details from the official Shelby Bottoms Greenway and Natural Area site.
South Inglewood Park
Location: 1625 Rebecca St, Nashville, TN 37216
Playground: Yes (Bright, modern rubber-surfaced playground with fun climbing structures and baby slides).
Nature/Community Center:South Inglewood Community Center.
Restrooms: Yes (Inside the community center).
Parking: Paved lot right by the center.
Key Details: Another modern, colorful playground with a rubbery ground surface. This one is especially suited for bigger kids, but my three-year-old loved it! Nestled on a hill in the Inglewood community of East Nashville, this is a well-lit playground with lots of visibility. Note that this playground is at the top of a hill, so windy days are excessively windy. Bring a jacket!

Downtown & Midtown
Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park
Location: 600 James Robertson Pkwy, Nashville, TN 37243
Nature/Community Center: Park Visitor Center on site; directly adjacent to the Nashville Farmers’ Market.
Restrooms: Yes (Inside the Visitor Center building and at the adjacent Nashville Farmers’ Market).
Parking: Free 2-hour street parking along 6th and 7th Avenues, plus paid lots nearby.
Key Details: Designed as an outdoor history lesson modeled after the National Mall! The splash fountains are an absolute lifesaver on hot summer days, and you can duck into the Farmers’ Market next door for food and ice cream. You can make a whole afternoon of it by touring the (free!) Tennessee State Museum and going to the Nashville Farmer’s Market for lunch. This park is often the site of large festivals, including the annual Nashville Pride celebration in June and the Southern Festival of Books in October. ⭐ Centennial Park
Location: 2500 West End Ave, Nashville, TN 37203
Playground: Yes (On the south side of the park; includes big-kid and toddler structures plus accessible swings).
Restrooms: Yes (Near the playground and inside the Parthenon area).
Parking: Multiple paved parking lots throughout the loop, plus street parking.
Key Details: Nashville’s flagship park, definitely the most iconic, Centennial Park is the best park in Nashville and offers much in the way of outdoor entertainment. When it’s not hosting festivals and free events, the park is home to the life-size replica of the Parthenon, many shaded walking trails and gardens, the Suffragette statue, and a lovely central pond where you can entertain the little ones by feeding the ducks. Ideal for picnics, feeding ducks, chasing pigeons, and soaking in local history. Lots of shady areas plus a big open green area. There’s a lot to see at this park, so visit the official site for more details.

Church Street Park

Playground: No but I would call it a boutique urban play space

Frankie Pierce Park
Location: 130 LifeWay Plaza, Nashville, TN 37203
Playground: Yes (Modern playset with swings, climbing features, and a dedicated toddler zone).
Facilities & Amenities: Fenced dog park, grassy lawn, sand volleyball court, covered picnic shelter.
Nature/Community Center: None on site.

Key Details: Tucked right into the Capitol View area, this urban park connects the Gulch and North Nashville with a cool elevated pedestrian bridge walk. Get more details about this great park on the official Frankie Pierce Park site.
Nashville Public Square Park
Location: 100 Public Sq, Nashville, TN 37201
Playground: No.
Facilities & Amenities: Large lawn grid, water fountains and reflecting pools, green roof installation over the parking garage, sweeping views of City Hall and the Cumberland River.
Nature/Community Center: Situated directly in front of the Historic Metro Courthouse.
Restrooms: Available inside the Metro Courthouse during public business hours.
Parking: Paid underground public parking garage located directly beneath the park.
Key Details:This location is often used as a site for local festivals, such as the Nashville Cherry Blossom Festival. Excellent place to let kids run freely across wide lawns while taking in views of the river and city architecture!
Riverfront Park
Location: 100 1st Ave N, Nashville, TN 37201
Playground:No.
Facilities & Amenities:Ascend Amphitheater, green lawn space, riverfront promenade, historical river trade markers, dog park.
Nature/Community Center: None on site.
Restrooms: Yes (Public restrooms available near Ascend Amphitheater during events/open hours).
Parking: Paid surface lots and garages along 1st Ave and Broadway.
Key Details: Anchoring the east end of Broadway right on the Cumberland River! It’s an awesome spot to stroll along the water, watch boats pass by, or catch live music at the outdoor amphitheater. Check out the official Riverfront Park site for more info.
Walk of Fame Park
Location: 121 4th Ave S, Nashville, TN 37201
Playground:No.
Facilities & Amenities: Commemorative star plaques embedded in the walkway honoring music legends, open green lawn, downtown festival space.
Restrooms: No outdoor park restrooms (public restrooms available inside nearby downtown attractions and the Hilton hotel doesn’t seem to mind much if you sneak in quietly).
Key Details: Located right on Music Mile between Bridgestone Arena and the Country Music Hall of Fame. Great spot for kids to run across the lawn while you check out the stars honoring Dolly Parton (RIP queen!), Johnny Cash, and other icons! Also, this is the site of one of my favorite free events in Nashville — a monthly dance fitness class hosted by Dani D Fitness!
Restrooms: Yes (Inside the community center during operating hours).
Parking: Dedicated paved parking lot behind the building.
Key Details: Located right along the vibrant Nolensville Pike corridor! While it’s primarily a non-profit community hub, the outdoor play area and colorful plaza make it a welcoming stop while exploring local international eats.
Dudley Park
Location: 302 Chestnut St, Nashville, TN 37210
Playground: Yes (A *new* play structure with slides, swings, and climbing gear).
Facilities & Amenities: Community center, open sports fields, basketball courts, picnic shelters.
Nature/Community Center: No
Restrooms: Yes (Inside the community center during open hours).
Parking: Dedicated paved lot next to the community center.
Key Details: Tucked into Wedgewood-Houston/Chestnut Hill, this neighborhood park gives kids plenty of room to run around right near the local art and coffee district. Get more details on the official Dudley Park Nashville.gov site!
Elmington Park
Location: 3531 West End Ave, Nashville, TN 37205
Playground: Yes (Large play structure sitting right at the base of West End Middle School).
Facilities & Amenities: Huge open sports fields (baseball, soccer, lacrosse), tennis courts, lawn space for flying kites, start of the 440 Greenway.
Nature/Community Center: None on site.
Restrooms: Portable restrooms available during peak park hours/events.
Parking: Dedicated paved lot off West End Ave + neighborhood street parking.
Key Details: Famous for summer “Movies in the Park” nights and food trucks on weekends! There is tons of room to run around, kick a ball, or ride scooters on the paved paths.
Mariposa Park
Location: Situated between Tusculum Road and Bart Drive at 140 Tusculum Road
Playground: Yes (Brand new as of 2026, modern all-abilities play structures with rubberized surfacing and colorful play features!).
Facilities & Amenities: Open green space, walking paths, shaded seating areas, community gathering plaza.
Nature/Community Center: None on site.
Restrooms:No.
Parking: Street parking along Wilburn St and surrounding neighborhood roads.
Key Details: One of Nashville’s newest parks! Designed with heavy community input, this 10-acre neighborhood spot features a gorgeous butterfly theme (mariposa!) and super fresh, accessible playground gear that the kids will love.
⭐ Percy Warner Parks
Location: 7311 Highway 100, Nashville, TN 37221
Playground: Yes (Playground area located on the Percy Warner side).
Facilities & Amenities: Miles of hiking/equestrian trails, scenic drives, mountain bike trails, golf courses, dog park, sports park, and more!
Nature/Community Center:Warner Park Nature Center (3600 Hillsboro Pike) with interactive exhibits, natural play spaces, and gardens.
Restrooms: Yes (At the Nature Center, trailheads, and golf facilities).
Parking: Plenty of paved and gravel lots throughout both parks.
Key Details: Over 3,100 acres of forest! It’s the biggest green escape in Nashville city limits. The Friends of Warner Parks non-profit is dedicated to the preservation and stewardship of this immense park system and often hold events here.
Radnor Lake State Park
Location: 1160 Otter Creek Rd, Nashville, TN 37220
Playground: No (Protected natural area so there are no play structures and you can not swim in the water).
Restrooms: Yes (At the Visitor Center and West lot).
Parking: Two main lots (be warned: these fill up fast on nice days!).
Key Details: Strictly for hiking and nature watching! No running/jogging, strollers, or pets on the unpaved dirt trails. Keep an eye out for turtles, deer, eagles, and owls!
Rose Park (E.S. Rose Park)
Location: 1000 Edgehill Ave, Nashville, TN 37203
Playground: Yes (Modern, colorful play structure with climbing features, slides, and swings).
Facilities & Amenities: A sports complex, synthetic turf sports fields (baseball field, track, soccer field used by Belmont University athletics), basketball courts, walking track.
Restrooms: Yes (Inside the community center and adjacent to sports facilities).
Parking: Ample paved lot parking off Edgehill Ave.
Key Details: Perched up in the Edgehill neighborhood with awesome views of the downtown skyline! The walking track around the state-of-the-art sports fields makes it easy to stroll while keeping an eye on the kids at the playground. Get more details from the official E.S. Rose Park site!
Sevier Park
Location: 3021 Lealand Ln, Nashville, TN 37204
Playground: Yes (Two large shaded structures with swings, slides, and climbing gear).
Restrooms: Yes (Inside the community center and outdoor park restrooms).
Parking: Two dedicated lots (can fill up fast on busy weekends!).
Key Details: Right in the heart of 12 South and supported by the Friends of Sevier Park non-profit. Grab coffee or ice cream down the street and let the kids free play!
Restrooms: Yes (Full changing rooms and restrooms on site).
Parking: Large dedicated parking lot.
Key Details:Small admission fee, but if your kiddo loves the water, it’s worth the cost for several hours of entertainment. You can bring in snacks and drinks, so make an afternoon of it! But note that this park is often crowded on hot summer days, so it’s a good idea to arrive early to secure a spot and to avoid waiting in a long line.

⭐ Charlie Daniels Park (Planet Playground & Ava’s Splash Pad)
Location: 1075 Charlie Daniels Pkwy, Mt. Juliet, TN 37122
Playground: Yes (Planet Playground—massive, fully-accessible, all ages, wooden-and-modern play fortress and playground structures) and it is worth driving out to Wilson county for!!
Facilities & Amenities:Ava’s Splash Pad, skate park, volleyball/tennis courts, walking track, community center, outdoor stage.
Nature/Community Center: Community Center on site.
Restrooms: Yes (Adjacent to splash pad and playground).
Parking: Huge paved lots.
Key Details:Easily one of the top playgrounds in the entire metro area. Between the huge playground and splash pad, it’s an easy half-day trip. We’ve been coming here since Skyler could walk to enjoy the splash pad (which does get crowded on hot days), and it’s the kind of place that grows with the kid, offering a separate playground for littles in addition to the massive Planet Playground that will entertain big kids and adults! Dont take my word for it — read the reviews of Charlie Daniels park!

Long Hunter State Park
Location: 2910 Hobson Pike, Hermitage, TN 37076
Playground: Unclear (Some report a play structure located in the Cook Day Use Area featuring a play structure surrounded by open grass).
Restrooms: Yes (Full flush restrooms near the visitor center, trailheads, and beach area).
Parking: Large paved lots at Cook Day Use, Couchville Lake, and the main visitor center.
Key Details:An amazing state park right in our backyard! You can hike the flat 2-mile paved loop around Couchville Lake (stroller-friendly!), hit the lake beach, and wrap up at the playground.

Visiting Nashville? Need a place to stay?
If you’re visiting Nashville with kids and want to know which area of town to stay in, look no further! Personally, I’m biased towards Donelson, the Gateway to Music City (where you can find lots of vacation rentals in residential neighborhoods and hotels near the airport). Unless you plan to go out drinking and partying, I wouldn’t bother staying downtown. Pick the top activities or destinations that you want to be near (and whichever playground you want to check out!) and look in that area.
